DeadDrop - Privacy Policy
Effective October 16, 2026
DeadDrop is a game you play with friends in iMessage, over local Wi-Fi with people next to you, or pass-and-play on one phone. It is built to collect nothing: there are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and the developer runs no server that your games pass through.
Information we collect
None. We (the developer) do not receive, see, store or sell any information about you or your games.
What stays on your device
- Your display name. The name you choose is saved on your device so you do not have to type it again. It is shown to the other players in your game.
- Your settings and games in progress. Sound, haptics and similar preferences, and the state of games you are playing, are saved on your device so a game can pick up where it left off.
- A random device identifier. The app makes up a random code the first time it runs so a game can tell your seat apart from your friends' seats. It is not linked to you, your Apple ID or your phone number, and it is never sent to us.
How games travel
- In iMessage, the whole game (board, moves, display names and scores) travels inside the messages you and your friends send to each other in that conversation, under Apple's iMessage encryption. Only the people in that conversation can see it.
- Over local Wi-Fi, the game is passed directly between the phones in the room. The connection is direct between the nearby devices in the game, using Apple's peer-to-peer networking; nothing goes over the internet. iOS asks for Local Network permission the first time you host or join; you can turn it off at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network.
Third parties
DeadDrop contains no third-party SDKs, analytics, crash reporters or advertising networks. No data is shared with anyone. If you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports under Apple's own privacy policy.
Children
Because DeadDrop collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children.
Deleting your data
Everything the app stores is on your device. Deleting the app deletes it. Games already sent in iMessage stay in that conversation until you delete the messages.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
